French & Music Programs

Faith Infant and Early Education offers a daily French and Music program. These programs are more formal and are offered in our toddler, pre-k and kindergarten programs.

In our programs, the teachers set aside time each day to help the children learn these new skills in a fun, engaging and playful way. The children learn through finger play/puppets, computer programs, songs and dance, and using a variety of instruments. The teachers within the kindergarten program teach French more in depth as many of the children from our full day kindergarten graduate and move into the French Immersion Schools.

Each program receives French, three days per week and depending upon their attention span and desire to learn, can have this program anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes at a time.  It is currently offered Monday, Wednesday and Fridays in the younger programs and every day in the full-day kindergarten program.

All teachers in each program teach French.  Whether they are functional or fluent, most of the children are learning French as their third language. The French curriculum begins with numbers and the alphabet, simple words and phrases, colours and shapes.  With this being the second language of Canada, it is very important that children learn when they can and it is found that younger is certainly better.  Depending upon the age of the group, French will become more in depth, especially with our kindergarten children. Many families choose to have their children remain at the Centre for our full day JK/SK program and then send them to the French Immersion School for grade 1.  Our French program helps to enhance their learning prior to their arriving into the school system.

We also offer a more formal Music program on a weekly basis as well.  This is taught in each program from our toddlers, Pre-K and both Junior and Senior Kindergarten classes, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

During Music the children learn how to recognize the musical notes, treble and bass clefts along with a large variety of musical instruments.  This program is a hands on program where the children can manipulate different musical instruments played to songs and beats.  The children thoroughly enjoy this program and look forward to what the teacher has planned each week.

In addition to musical instruments, music and movement plays a large part in the Music program. The children love to move and groove to the wide variety of music that is available to them from multicultural music, pop music, the golden oldies, Christian and worship music, classical and children’s entertainers as well.
